Exporting video with multiple audio tracks

I'm working on editing together multiple episodes from a show. The .mp4 files I'm working with have audio tracks for English and Japanese, and when I play them in VLC I'm able to swap between languages which I would like to preserve. However whenever I export the videos after clipping everything, it either has both of the audios playing at the same time, or, in VLC I can see there are 2 audio tracks like there should, but both of the audio tracks are the same language. Not sure what setting I need to choose or adjust, but I'm looking for some guidance!
