Ultrastudio Mini Monitor no longer working

I am using an UltraStudio Mini Monitor (the older model) with a 2017 iMac Pro to an external HDMI monitor. Desktop Video 14.5 does not detect the device even the System Report for the Thunderbolt ports shows it's connected to (see screenhots below). I am running Sequoia 15.5 and DaVinci 19 and have tried all the ports, made sure the monitors and cables are good, etc. I'm out of ideas. Is this a bad UltraStudio device or an issue with DV 14.5? If so, how can this be fixed?

It's a Sequoia security issue. Search this forum for similar issues with M1 Macs. You need to remove every last trace of BMD system files and do a new install. Follow the install steps and security responses precisely to get a good install.

I did read and followed all the installation steps in this forum and it did not work. I think Sequoia 15.5 doesn’t work anymore with the tb2-tb3 adapter. I pretty much tried everything I know or read.

Would using the newer UltraStudio Mini Monitor 3G which connects to the Apple computer via TB3 work with Sequoia 15.5? Anyone?

My US Monitor 3G works here on a Mac mini M4 under Sequoia 15.5.

Good to know. I’ll give that a try. Too bad BMD won’t upgrade from the UltraStudio mini monitor to the UltraStudio 3G. Got to always buy a new one.

Well, compared to the competition they are quite reasonably priced.
What I miss is a 4K/UHD version.

Yeah, a comparable and priced around $149 for a 4K/UHD version would be nice.

This morning, I ran into the same issue with an Ultrastudio 4K Mini. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I ran through the permissions too quickly. The one I missed was:

System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions > Driver Extensions (it's the section below the Login Items)

I needed to press the little 'i' info icon next to 'Driver Extensions' and enable the 'Blackmagic Desktop Video Driver Extension.app'

Once done, the Desktop Video app saw the Ultrastudio, and I was back in business.

HTH

SOLVED! I did all the security checks that were suggested and recommended throughout this forum and Reddit. Nothing fixed it. So over the last weekend, I decided to try out older versions of Desktop Videos. To make a long post short, every time I do the complete uninstall and reinstall of DV versions, the problem was the same. I was about to give up and some Reddit posts suggested 12.5. I was at 12.9 when I nearly gave up. I did this one last downgrade to 12.5 and behold DV recognized the UMM and asked me if I wanted to upgrade the firmware. I said yes. Set Resolve to output the video to the UMM and finally everything worked! My gosh… why wasn’t this encountered before? So I’m on Sequoia (15.5.1), running Resolve 19.1.4, Desktop Videos 12.5 on a 2017 IMac Pro, and back in business too! if this happens to you, it’s likely the version of DV and not your hardware.
