Try installing .NET 4.5 and see if that helps. I had the same issue with windows 8 and immediately went back to windows 7. Then, windows 7 wasn't playing nice. I have 2 intensity shuttles Intel sandybridge laptop with the Intel usb 3 eXtensible host controller. They run only after installing .NET 4.0 client profile and then .NET 4.5. I have some ideas why but am not sure why this was the case. Give it a try and let us know if that works.
Best of luck to you,
Bryan

"Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 include the .NET Framework 4.5, so you do not have to install it separately on those operating systems. "

I'm sad to say that I have the .NET Framework 4.5 installed and it makes no difference on my system. Plugging in the Intensity Shuttle at any time causes a BSOD very quickly.

Considering how well things worked in Win7, this Intensity Shuttle must be very, very finicky about the systems it runs on. I suppose next time I shop for a capture solution I'll have to look for something a bit more tolerant.

I have Windows 8 Pro too, and an Asus U3S6 (WITH NEC I/O CONTROLLER). I found a way around, see code below. My motherboard has a Asmedia controller, so that thing is not compatible to use with the shuttle. If I connect the shuttle ot the motherboard directly, it blue-screens. Hence why I use the U3S6

Code: Select all
Try to have the USB cable disconnected from your PC.
Deïnstall your drivers via Program and Features in the control panel.
Wait a minute,
Install the drivers again. (From stationdrivers.com, in the http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/1388093/USB3_Readme_Before_You_Install.pdf. I used the most recent ones.
Plug your cable in. If the Blackmagic Design logo shows on your screen, everything's okay. If not, install the drivers again while the BMIS is plugged in.
If you shut down your PC, you have to do this over again. I haven't tried to skip the de-install re-install thing again, that last step was present for me just this morning.
