Terranex Questions

PostSun Nov 11, 2012 2:59 pm

Hi, here are some questions about the Terranex:
-Can it output a 12bit signal via HDMI or SDI?
-Can it load 3D LUT?
-Does it have "legalizer" functions?
-Can it do realtime 1080i5994 to 1080PsF23.98 (remove pulldown) to 1080i25i?
-Do you still have this audio problem when sending signal to HDCAM SR deck?

Thanks a lot. I know it's bulk but it will be useful!

Sorry Mat, I don't have one.
Might be worth having a look at the spec sheet on their web site. Generally very informative or hang on.

Hi Mathieu,

Teranex can output 10-bit SDI and HDMI.

I'm admittedly not the best person to answer your other questions, but you might find some answers in the Tech Specs or the Teranex manual.

I'm wondering if the built in ultrascope is of any use on teranex? It seems even if you set input and output to same settings, teranex still processes signal before it reaches ultrascope? Specifically clipping? Can't get an answer from tech support.

@Mathieu

- HDMI and SDI output is 10bit
- No, there is no ability to load 3D LUT's.
- It does not have legalizer functions.
- All conversions are done in realtime but there is an approximate 4 frame latency.
- Yes, there is a logged bug on the HDCAM issue and is currently being worked on in Engineering.

@Paul

The signal that is going through the Teranex2D goes through it's processing blocks so the signal is not untouched. What this means is that you can adjust certain functions like clipping, proc amp, etc and that will change the signal. Alternatively you can leave these off as well. But either way, it does go through some sort of minimal processing. The Teranex2D isn't currently designed to be used as a standalone Ultrascope but we'll log it as a feature request as we are seeing more interest in this functionality.

Thanks Kaspar. The thing that concerns me most is that it seems like the clipping cannot be fully disabled as the default settings are 4 - 1019 or something like that which sounds like 10 bit signal is clipped. Please do enable a passive mode. The product description you currently use does imply that it is an Ultrascope...

+1 for the passive mode. I would love to be able to use the Teranex as an ultrascope interface. The literature indicated this as a capability and it would be more than useful here.
