Ultrastudio Mini Recorder/Mac thunderbolt monitor

Just having a weird issue.
When I plug the Ultra studio Mini Recorder in to my Mac Book Pro 15 Retina, and I have my thunderbolt monitor plugged in, everything on the monitors USB starts playing up.
The mouse becomes jerky, my logickeyboard stops, and the audio starts skipping before just disapearing.
I unplug the recorder it all comes good again. I plug keyboard etc into the mac book pro and that works too, although sound is still dodgy as that is still on the monitor.
