Ultra Studio SDI USB 3.0 and Dell M6600

HI, the contact support page is not working for me. I've read that you don't support Dell workstations, but do you think the Ultra Studio SDI (not the pro version) will work with a Dell Precision M6600 laptop workstation? The M6600 includes renesas USB 3.0 chip and hub with two USB 3.0 ports. According to posts and articles I've read on here the renesas chip should work. The M6600 also has 2 quad i7 processors, 8GB Ram, and Invidia quadro 3000m graphics card.
thanks for your help.
Larry

I have a M6600 too and my Ultrastudio SDI doesn't work.
At least it doesn't work in fullhd, it perfectly works in ..PAL SD, to me that means that we have problem with USB3 ports.
I would really appreciate a Blackmagic support to solve this problem.

Thank you.

Hi guys

I have both good and bad news for you or anyone else using the Dell M6600 and 6700 for that matter. The bad news first. I have a beefy M 6600: i7 2720, 16 GB of RAM, 1 mSata and 2 SSD in RAID 0 configuration, a Quadro 3000 M.
After months of trying to get it to work with the Ultra Studio SDI USb 3.0, I have arrived at the following conclusion:
1) The M6600 works with the BMD device when set to input and output an SD signal as noted above.
2) My M6600 can now successfully capture an HD signal, which it couldn't do before. I don't know what brought about this welcome change.
3) My M6600 still can't reliably output an HD signal. The pictures come on and then go off, which is very frustrating.
And finally the good news:
I have just tested the M6700 a friend of mine recently purchased and I am pleased to report that it works like a charm, capturing and outputting an HD signal in all its glory.

Thank you for your contribute, HTH.
I don't think that DELL could accept to take the M6600 back, neither if i should decide to buy a new M6700 just now.. so we still have same problem.

Then i had another idea: what if we try a different USB3 chip, plugging a new PCI Express 34 USB3 controller?

What do you think about it?

Well, I don't know about that. Someone could try that and report back.
By the way, HTH means "hope that helps" ;)

It's OK.
FWIW (for what it's worth), English is not my first language either. French is.
Perhaps others could chime in so we can draw up a list of newer laptops that now work with the Ultra Studio SDI?
How about that?

I have just purchased a M6700 to use with my Ultrastudio Pro but the device is not working. It is recognised in the device manager but keeps on rejecting it. From what I've understood browsing the topics here, there seems to be an issue with the USB 3.0 type being an Intel instead of Nec/Renesas.

Would you be able to point me in the right direction to make the ultrastudio work on this specific laptop?

Thank you!

Well, we didn't have to do anything fancy to get it to work. We just installed the driver and plugged the Ultrastudio into the laptop.
One caveat though, it worked flawlessly in Media Express but not in Premiere CS6.
