Teranex Analog audio cable

PostWed Jan 02, 2013 7:00 pm

Just got my Teranex and I am wondering if there are any commercial cables for the analog audio in/out? Can anyone suggest a vendor that has them. Or do I need to make one, as illustrated in the manual?
Thanks!

You can purchase pre-made cables through many A/V equipment resellers, like Sweetwater Sound or B&H for example. The DB-25 pin out is compatible with Yamaha, Mackie, Sony and Apogee connectors, as shown in the manual.

Would this Hosa cable work? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 ... 25_to.html

Edit: No, apparently not. This one has the Tascam pinout, which is different from the Yamaha, etc, AES pinout.

A trip to Sweetwater yields this page http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/art ... out-guide/ which seems to show the same pinout as the Teranex. But this is the AES cable, not analog. A close look at the Teranex manual --section 12 -- shows the same pinout for both AES and analog. So for analog connectivity to Teranex, we need to use a cable with the AES pinout. The manual needs a revision to make this clear.

My need is for TRS connectors on the other end, and so far I haven't found a cable that works.

EDIT: It looks like I need to give up on the TRS connectors, and go with the XLR.

But, It would be helpful if you could specify exact cables that will work, by brand and part number. I don't want to fry the box by getting the wrong thing.

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but does anyone have any experience using analog audio with this cable:

http://www.hosatech.com/product/339792/ ... XLR3F,_5_m

It's AES with Yahama pinout for digital. Having a hard time finding one for analog. Vintagefilm suggested that it would work because the pinout is the same for analog and AES.

Thanks!

That is probably the correct cable, but I would like a definitive answer directly from Blackmagic.

That Hosa cable does work. It is what I just installed yesterday.
Here is the Hosa name to be sure we are talking about the same thing:

AES/EBU Snake, DB25 to 4 x XLR3M and 4 x XLR3F, 5 m

This cable works for AES or Analogue. Just use the connector labeled 1&2 for Ch1 analogue. 3&4 for Ch2 Analogue etc.

We have it installed like this and did a job perfectly yesterday.
