Decklink card - version

PostFri Jan 11, 2013 8:18 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have found a secondhand Decklink HD extreme, but I am wondering how can I find out which revision of the the card is this?

Will this cards work in my system?

This is my system
Mac Pro Early 2009
Processor 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
11 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)

Kind regards,
Jeffrey

Hello Jeffrey,

Most likely, yes if it is a DeckLink HD Extreme card, as all of them should work fine on a Mac Pro.

If you want to check which generation of DeckLink HD Extreme it is, you can flip the car over and there should be a little white sticker on the underside of the DeckLink that will list the serial as well as which version of DeckLink HD Extreme it is.

If it is a first generation card, it will just list DeckLink HD Extreme. If it is a v2, it will list DeckLink HD Extreme2.

Hope this clears things up. If it's a DeckLink HD Extreme, it should work on your Mac Pro.

Hello,

Thank you for the input. There are two links in my post. The second link is the sticker I believe you spoke of.

This is the sticker http://bit.ly/VUIJo6

Hello,

Are there any Diagnostic tools that I can run to see if the card is working ok?

Kind regards,
Jeffrey

The cards is likely fine, it's the software that's going to be the issue.

That card will not work with any driver later than 9.5.3. Which means unfortunately it will not work past Snow Leopard OS.

I just installed the version you said that would work with the card, and it is playing back pefectly. The latest driver was just saying no signal.

Atleast, so far the playback is normal.

What are the known issues?

I have got the same problem
Decklink HD extreme not working with Driver above 9.5.3. on OSX 10.8.2 on Macporo 3.1 early 2008

the 9.5.3. driver works with FCP 7 but NOT with fCP X ! FCP X does not see the Card
all above ( 9.6. to 9.7.) not working at all ..

So what's the Solution?
Snow leopard is no option because FCP X does not support Video OUT at all
anyone know a stable OSX ./ Driver / FXP x 10.0.7 combination that works ?

Thank you
