Firmware won't update on second input of DeckLink duo

PostWed Feb 13, 2013 8:20 pm

I upgraded to version 9.7 of the desktopvideo package for Linux. The new driver requires a firmware update, but BlackMagicFirmwareUpdater will only update one of the inputs.

Code: Select all
$ BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater status
   blackmagic0 [DeckLink SDI]   0x1f   OK
   blackmagic1 [DeckLink SDI]   0x1c   PLEASE_UPDATE

$ BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater update blackmagic1
$ BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater status
   blackmagic0 [DeckLink SDI]   0x1f   OK
   blackmagic1 [DeckLink SDI]   0x1c   PLEASE_UPDATE

Tried rebooting, but it didn't help.

OS: Ubuntu Linux 11.04, kernel 2.6.38
Device: DeckLink duo
Driver: 9.7a49

Any suggestions?

We are having the same problem but on a windows 64 bit machine...
We have a Decklink DUO and it was working perfectly till we decided to update drivers to 9.7 and then it asked to update firmware and we did but it asked for a reboot (i suspect without updating drivers on both SDI) and after that only SDI 2 is working... :-(

Blackmagic... please help?

From the readme.txt:

"Multiple cards may not work very well on 32 bit platforms, due to limited
amount of kernel space memory (from the vmalloc).

Possible solutions:
Reconfigure kernel to allow more vmalloc memory, or use 64 bit Linux
if possible."

HowTo;

- open /etc/default/grub in an editor
- add "vmalloc=512M" to config GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash vmalloc=512M"
- save file
- execute "sudo update-grub"
- restart

The syslog schould give you hints if there are problems with the hardware.
