Problems with decklink extreme 4k

PostWed Feb 20, 2013 8:50 pm

Just got the decklink extreme 4k and this is the first time I use a bmd card (have used AJA up to now). I thought is would be kind of plug and play like AJA. But for some silly reason I dont get any picture out to the monitor. Trying both sdi and component. I have tried both premiere cs6 and davinci 9. In davinci it shows up as an i/o option. If i try to playback its crashes the program. Premiere want show now picture iether even that i have checked the checkbox and used bmd sequence settings for both 4k and 1080. Playback dont work at all in premiere...

Is Mercury Transmit installed in the package from bmd or should I download it from nvidia or adobe?

First I want to get the 1080 to work. But the most important is to work in a 4k timeline and output an 1080p to the ref monitor (the reason I choosed this card over the older).

Kind Regards

Now I have tried the card in another computer with windows 8 with premiere on. There it seams to work proper....we just tried so the playback did work and that it sended the sdi and component out to displays wich it did. So the card seams to work.

The only clue I have is that I cant playback in premiere. I dont even have the option to start the playback with the playback button. There is no signal coming out of the card in component or sdi.
In davinci it crash as soon i hit the playback button. There is no signal out here either.

I tried to capture some sdi in the express utility from bmd. If I import clips from hardrive I cant play it back in here either.!? what is this!

I have tried to use different pci ports but no luck...

Any Ideas?

Im using premiere 6.0.3 and the latest davinci on a fresh installed windows 8 machine.

ust wanted to add that the bmd express program (the one for capture) does suffer the same problem with no playback. If I import a clip into that program I cant make it play. But as soon I disable the bmd driver the playback works. Im not talking about the playback on ref monitor but the computer display. There is still no signal in or out of course. But if we can get it to work in bmd capture program i think davinci and premiere will start to work aswell.

So we know the decklink card send out a signal from another windows 8 pc that should have the latest updates aswell. So it should not be any differens between the os versions. Lets fokus on the bmd capture program first wich suffers the same issue as premiere, davinci.
When the bmd drivers (9.7) is active in the system it stops the playback funktion to work in bmd capture program, davinci premiere.
I cant se any driver issue in windows. Im not sure what this drivers can have a problem with but the only pci card I have in my pc (except the decklink) is a quadro fx 580 wich is to be replaced with a gtx 690 next week (tuesday or wensday I believe). It can be a chane that this solve the problem.
It could be a issue with the motherboard (supermicro x9dai) and the drivers...

We need to fix this pronto!

My workstation is finally working.

Premiere 1080timeline, full res 25fps with up to 40% cpu usage if using scale to fit video.
same but normal scaling I need to go down to 1/2 38-44% cpu usage.

Davinci 1080 timeline half res good easy 25fps
premium debayer 20-26fps so no realtime. dammit this was my goal. Must be possible to sqeeze out some fps more.
