This drives me nuts :-)

PostTue Sep 04, 2012 6:09 am

I have setuped a small grading suit the main monitor is an HP LP3065 and my preview monitor is an Eizo FS2331 feeded through hdmi out of an blackmagic intensity.

here is the question:

on the Main Monitor in the Preview windows the Image looks terribly dark and to much saturation..... on the FS2331 the image looks fine..

when i export as an H264 mov and play the clip via quicktime player it looks just like on my FS2331 but when played back with VLC it looks like crap

so is it normal that the image on the main Monitor is "wrong"

who to trust ? :-)

Hardware:
OSX 10.7.4
1x Nvidia GTX 550 Ti
1x Nvidia GTX 560 Ti

Resolve 9 Beta 3

Assuming your Eizo is calibrated - I'd trust that over your GUI display.

It's strange though that the H264 looks right in Quicktime but wrong in VLC - normally it's the other way around! Are you running the latest version of VLC?

What display profile are you using on your GUI display? Have you tried doing a custom calibration (by pressing "Calibrate" in the Color tab on the "Displays" system preferences?

the gui display the HP LP 3065 is calibrated with an x-rite 1i pro so for my photo retouching and printing this combi is flawless
