Strange artefacts in resolve

PostSun Mar 24, 2013 2:02 pm

Hi, Ive just started learning DaVinci Resolve and am eagerly awaiting my MFT BMCC and I recently rented out the EF version for a test shoot. I was really happy with the results but I have been having problems with Resolve. Whenever I add any type of color correction to the footage I get strange artefacts appearing around light sources and at points that glint. The artefacts are only there in the viewer if I play through the footage or page through frame by frame at high speed. If I go through each frame slowly they don't show.

The thing is when I export they are there permanently in the exported footage...

Is it a problem with my processing speed/quality of my machine?

I have an iMac with:

Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

You need to upgrade to 10.8.2/3 to solve this issue. It's an OpenCL bug in 10.7.5.

hello,

I have the same problem with HD footage.
I get artefacts (yellow, grey, black) when I playback or render.
I rendered at 5 fps but the problem is still there.

My macpro is a 2,1 from 2007 and I can't change now. (I can't upgrade to 10.8.x)

Is there a solution ? Image

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
As I said, I can't upgrade my macpro because of his age...
I use 3 monitors + One calibrated JVC, maybe the grafic card is overloaded ?

Here is anoter question : is it possible to force the upgrade to Mountain Lion ?

Thank you in advance for your Time !

If you cannot update you might have to live with the error... I too have a old Mac and the upgrade could not be forced at the time ML came out. i never bother to try again, i just decided that was time for an upgrade...

You cannot (unfortunately) pretend that a old machine will be top of the line forever... Look and any Car/Motorbike competition: what was hot 5 year ago will be ridiculous to put on the track now...

(cannot have the cake and eat it too, sorry...)
