1D LUT creation for Resolve

PostTue Mar 26, 2013 3:14 pm

hello gents,

I have a 1D lut generated in NUKE that i have to load in Resolve and use it as lut for the clients need and I do not understand how to create a correct lut in a way that resolve can see it.

as a base start I have a 4096 lines of a text file and i can make any columns i need with or without Comas, but it seems not enough.

currently i have a file as:

1, 1, 1, 1,
2, 2, 2, 2,
..
..
..
4096, 4096, 4096, 4096

But resolve ignore that. (I save it as pippo.ilut)

Dwaine, is there a software that can help me to do that? Do you have any insight?

(edit: rename the title)

for the ilut, why there are 4 columns? or better, what they represent? (I'm assuming RGBA)

for the olut, why there are 6 columns? or better, what they represent?

I believe the 2nd set of 3 numbers is a legacy thing. I think it was used to apply a different transform to the display than the one applied to renders. (Maybe for headroom conversions??) Essentially two LUTs in one. Every olut I've looked at uses the same numbers for both sets to avoid issues.

Yes that look to be the case.
