It has been said that the new I/O Card is available early January 2018.
Current outlook is 7-8 weeks more to go at least in Germany.

How is that in other countries ?

I asked a supplier in the netherlands last week.. And he says the BMD order system in England says in stock and ready for shipment. So i'm not sure which supplier you are trying to get it from?? Might look for a different supplier? ;)

Again, there is a delay in shipment.
The new Date is July, 201& - I hope the year is correct !
By that date BMD could do a re-design and add a HDMI 2.1 mezzazine Card.

Is this officially confirmed by BM? I’ve been trying to get a delivery date out of them myself, but I only get “in a few weeks” every time. This is becoming a bad joke...

Well, I certainly won’t draw any conclusions from any release dates given by Blackmagic again. I don’t understand why they keep doing this over and over again. The frustration and uncertainty regarding availability of any of their announced product must surely have a negative impact on sales in the long run?

Hi,

it seems that the 8K Pro is now available from stock.
For my build it is too late since it is now 6 month's late !
I used a Decklink 4K Extreme 12G instead.

Hello,

I have just get declink 8K Pro for test from my local reseller in Poland.
First and for me main problem - this declink does not have down conversion on second, thidr ... sdi channel :(. I consider to replace my Extreme 4K 6G because I need monitor (UHD) on LG Oled and on Flanders CM250 in HD.
For now only one sollution - Declink 4K Extreme Pro 12G - but it is dual slot so it is not for me.
This is probably marketing thing. Buy, buy, buy another "magic box" in BMD to downconvert signal.

Well the website is pretty clear about it!! It is not mentioned with this card while they do mention it with the Extreme cards..

Don't forget that this cards is designed for Quadlink 12G capture or playback.. So the focus and processing inside is build for that task.. Not to be a Swiss Knife of video cards.. (Like the Extreme cards ;) )

You are right. But there was some rumors about downconversion.

I'm pretty sure you can remove the daughterboard if all you want is the SDI connections.

In the beginning of launch the card was even advertised as 4 times 12G SDI input card.. Unfortunatly that didn't make it too.. Ended up as a 2x in 2x out card maximum or Quadlink 12G in..

So it is able to ingest 4x 12G streams if it is Quadlink.. But 4 seperated streams it can't handle..  I will try to put my Atem 4 aux lins to it.. As all auxes run in Framesync out of the atem.. Maybe the card is able to pick that up as quadlink..

I can confirm that it can capture 4x 12G as long as the signals are framesynced. I sent four 4K outputs from our Ultimatte and it captured them as a 4-way split 8K signal.

It's good price then, but also limited functionality.

I don't have the card ordered yet.. Still debating with myself if it is worth it..

And probabbly the Payload ID's mismatch may proven to be a hurdle to get 4 synced 12G lines into it.

But it would be nice to try it.. ;)

For the 8K Pro card there might be an option to run 4x 12G to the card if they are in sync with eachother..

But this needs to be tested.. And i don't own the card yet..
Kind of the way some other brand has done this with there recording monitors..
**Trying hard to not name the brand here..
Image

So when all sources are the same framerate and resolution.. And run in genlock with eachother.. you might be able to pull off something like this.. That doesn't help anyone that needs to capture 4 seperate 4K streams..
And likely will never be able to do this with this card due too possible missing framebuffers on each input.. Which prevents the card running unsynced feeds..

But for some people running an ISO recording from 4 Ursas that are synced up.. Or 4 outputs out of an Atem 4ME Broadcast switcher were all PGM and AUX channels run in sync..
It could be a "solution"...
This would be similair to Quad Link Square Division setup used in 12G single link..
Image

But it might be very well not run if the 8K Pro card does a good check on Payload ID's.. As for Square Division every Square has a number ID in the payload for indentification.
While 4 seperate streams don't have that... So might or not might work..

I can and will test that if i can get my hands on a test card / demo card..

Like I stated a couple posts up I’ve already tested and confirmed that this works. Sending four separate outputs (not quad link) from an Ultimatte 12 captures each input as a quadrant of a 8K capture. Your results may vary, but I know it works for me.

Good to know.. Was the image useable after the capture? Did you capture with Media Express? And was it easy to slice into 4 windows streams again?

Yes, the image was useable. I’ve only tested it properly with NewTek NDI Connect Pro and that captured all four 4K quadrants as a 8K feed. I could then slice the quadrants into individual feeds in our Tricaster. Unfortunately, the bit rate didn’t increase beyond what is used in a normal 4K capture, so I could see some compression artifacts since each individual 4K feed actually only got 1/4 of what it would get when sending a single 4K feed. CPU useage was around 10% when encoding the 8K NDI feed.

Media Express actually gave me an error message stating that the hardware didn’t support the selected format, but that could have been cause by also having a Decklink Extreme 12G installed on the same computer. I didn’t have time to really troubleshoot this.
