Workflow for DVD dailies

Hey fellas,

Can you recommend a workflow for creating DVDs / Dailies from resolve?
My originating material is Regular 16mm 4x3 over scanned showing sprocket holes. (from film transfers)

Currently, I'm rendering out HD files (showing the overscanned image sprocket holes/framelines)
import to after effects
resize image smaller to 45% to a 720x480 timeline
exporting mpeg 2 DVD file (constant bitrate 7mbps)
import to encore
export DVD

Is there a faster or better workflow?

Thanks!

You could probably skip the After Effects stage and do the cropping directly in Adobe Media Encoder? That way you can just create the MPEGs straight off the HD files from telecine/scan.

so you could use adobe media encoder as an 'alternative' to aftereffects if I understand correctly.
But would still have to take that file into encore to build the DVD.

Wish there was a way to create mpeg 2 DVD files direct from resolve.

Hey Justin,

Set your projects settings to 720x480 and use the resizing pane for Resolve 9, create a preset for what you want, to crop out the sprockets.

Apply that grade to all your dailies and then render out to something like ProRes proxy, DNxHD, or tiff with scaling down to and encode the mpeg2 for the dvd from there.

Cheers,
