TIFFs

PostWed Apr 24, 2013 11:51 pm

I am working on-set on a feature shooting Alexa log-c and would like to capture certain frames of the video color them then output TIFFs or JPGs to show the DP. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Hi Paultson,

If you use Resolve lite is easy to do. Attach the harddisk with all the material to your laptop.
Use the ACES colorspace setting, choose Alexa for IDT and REC709 for ODT.
Load all your material in the mediapool and grab the stills you want to use.
Then export them as TIFF or JPEG.
An other option is to work in the YRGB colorspace and use a AlexaSlogtovideo input LUT.

If you cannot use the harddisk method then you have to capture the monitoring output
of the camera (using a BM capture device) to a QT prores or similar. After that you can
load these into your Resolve lite and export the stills.
