Playing old Digital VooDoo and Blackmagic 10bit QuickTime

Hi team,

I have recently unarchived a bunch of old masters that I would like to use for archiving to youtube.
Some of them are Digital VooDoo codecs and others are Blackmagic codecs.
Does anyone have any idea on how I can convert these to be easily playable on quicktime once again?

Many thanks,

Steve Thomson

Looks like all possible links to the decoder are dead.
If you have old BM codecs pack this may have decode for DV10 files. Use QT7 (not QT X) on PC or Mac.

You can try 2011 Decklink 7.9.4:

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/suppor ... c%20OS%20X

or 2012 9.5.3:

Thanks for the help Andrew. I've tried downloading those but they will not open on my system which is an up to date iMac running 10.14.5

There is an online archive of ancient codecs at codec.kiev.ua site. According to the QuickTime FourCC code of the Digital Voodoo codec (DV00 and DV10) it is supported by BlackMagic Design v.9.8.0, Digital Voodoo BlueFish444 v.3.306, and Aurora eXtreme© UC. Original codecs were developed for Apple before they moved to Intel processors, so there is a chance that you will need a very old Mac to install the drivers.

It seems that BlueFish444 site is the the first place to go as it's developed the hardware with the codec support. Try to reach them.

You can also write to the creator of the codecs archive. May be you'll need a VPN to reach the site. However, there is a war in Ukraine, so I do know whether he will respond. I would certainly donate him for this mind blowing service, but I did not find the way to do this.

My video recovery specialist advice would be to use only and only open source codecs for archive purposes. And only the most popular ones. For Apple users I would recommend ProRes as it is very recovery friendly. And do not use PCM (any flavour) because its bitstream does not have frame delimiters and it could cost you a fortune to recover. AAC Main Profile is a good choice for mono and stereo audio.

Please, do not contact me for media recovery, our service is on the first page in Google search.
