Scratch Disk For Workflow?

PostThu Aug 15, 2019 5:39 pm

Hi everyone,

I am a noob here, and wanted to know: Is a scratch disk necessary for your workflow with High-Resolution editing? And 3D editing?

If so, what kind of scratch disk (in terms of capacity and speed) would you need for different levels of editing?

For example: 2K, 4K, 8K, 3D?

What kind of configurations do you all recommend for a scratch disk in respect to the desired editing applications?

i have a 64Tb array of 16 x 4Tb WD _RedPro's
handles 4k/UHD flawlessly
no idea about 8k as no one's wanted to, or had a reason to pay for 8k delvierables
i set my timeline to match deliverables
i set my monitoring to match my timeline
and there's no accurate 8k mon on the face of the earth anyway....
