HP Z420 and Ultrastudio SDI

PostFri Sep 14, 2012 8:37 pm

Hello All,

I've just plugged the Ultrastudio SDI box into my new HP Z420. I'm getting totally glitchy video through the Ultrastudio.

The Z420 is based on the C600 chipset and uses a Texas Instruments XCHI USB 3.0 controller.

I am wondering if the usb 3 controller is the issue and if I should be purchasing an intel or Renesas based PCIe card.

Please let me know your thoughts

Thanks,

- Justin

The z420 we've tested we also could not get the USB3 stuff to work reliably on. Seems like it was closer than most though. Yeah, I'd recommend an add in board.

Done and done. I bought a Vantec usb 3 card based on the NEC chip, upgraded the drivers and firmware as per the UltraStudio instructions and everything is working just fine. I guess the advantage of this workaround is that I will be able to use the onboard usb 3 while using the ultrastudio.

Thanks,
