Synching Clips by Audio

PostThu Oct 17, 2019 6:15 pm

Hi there, it might be that I don't know how to do this, but I am having hard time synching clips by their audio when they are already on the timeline.

In Premiere I just right click and select "Synchronize" and it will sync the clips by their audio channel. I can do more than just two clips.

It seems you can not do this with resolve, but only when you import the clips from your media library into the timeline.

For me this is a deal breaker, if I can't sync clips after they are on the timeline, I can't really use resolve. I shoot with dslr and I the camera breaks the clips into small files, I then synch them with one long audio track. So I really need the ability to synch stuff after it's already on the timeline.

Any ideas?

That feature is missing from Resolve. It has been requested, for example here:

my number one requested feature since I moved to Resolve! Also a reason I can't get my friends to move over... I can't even use PluralEyes
Windows 11 | Resolve 18.0.3 | RTX 4090 24GB | 128 gigs DDR5-5200 | i9-12900K
Mac OS Monterey | M1 MAX | 64GB Ram |

You can, just not automatically...yet.

Forgive the newbie question, but what do you mean? How can you do it?

I ended up synching by matching the waveform graph peaks.

hi

1) I'm doing this all the time - by eye using the waveforms to synch to a Master waveform which you should be able to make visible.

Couple of bugs. The latest Resolve appears to randomly not make an audio graphic on some audio tracks/segments. Way to go Resolve.

So yea you can do it by eye, & is actually more reliable than the auto function which I tried but then there are other bugs too tiresome to repeat.

2) there was a bug in R16.0
exporting audio synch was delayed 7 frames, which I solved here
