Hello, trying to start with 16b3 on Windows and it has the same issue.
Resolve looks for openvr_api.dll in "Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\", but the dll is in "Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Plugins\".
The solution is to copy the openvr_api.dll one directory level up.

From our tests, the handling of default openvr related plugin locations by the installer seems to be done correctly.

I'd like to rule out issues with an incorrect installation. Could you try explicitly uninstalling the application before reinstalling beta 3? Please let us know if the problem still persists.

Thank you for reply.
An attempt of the clean installation.

I've uninstalled Resolve and removed folders "Blackmagic Design" from
C:\Program files*\
C:\ProgramData\
C:\Users\Public\Documents\
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\

Then ran installation.
DaVinci_Resolve_16.0b3_Windows.zip
1582325919 bytes (1509 MiB)
CRC32: 46467C0E

DaVinci_Resolve_16.0b3_Windows.exe version: 16.0.0028

"Unable to load plugin" window is here again.
Trace shows the same searches:
Image

After copying openvr_api.dll into ..\ the alert window is gone.
Probably, it is not an installation app fault, but the OS. I use Win7 Sp1.

W7 is not supported
For v16 you must be on W10?

That fixed it, thanks. For those having trouble following, copy openvr_api.dll

..from the Plugins folder in the Resolve folder into each of the folders highlighted in blue in his screengrab.

I experienced the same issue with the four versions of Resolve 16 beta.
I confirm that the installer is not good : copying or moving the "missing" file in the parent folder is enough to solve the problem.
The installer has to be fixed.

Could it be that everyone experiencing this problem has both BMDR 15 AND 16 installed on their computer? That way the folder structure is not what BMDR is expecting.

Cheers,

Just reinstalled my entire workstation (new M2 SSD drive upgrade).
So a brand new Windows 10 installation, and I bumped into this issue.
Downloaded Resolve 16 (no beta, and not 16.1 beta).

The solution was as stated by JustaJumbo;
Copy
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Plugins\openvr_api.dll
into
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\

Good day all, I encounter the same problem and I did an uninstallation followed by fresh installation but the problem persists. Although the plugin is well located in the directory "C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Plugins" but I still get the error while loading the app.
Kindly assist to troubleshoot this. Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

Problem still exists with the NON-Beta version of Resolve 16.

Developers, please fix it. The installer seems to have a problem. I use windows 10 and I deinstalled Resolve first and then did a clean install.

The workaround described above fixed the problem for me:

Copy this file:
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Plugins\openvr_api.dll

Into this directory:
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\

Please note that you have to copy the openvr_api.dll, but NOT the openvr.plugin file (so not the one that Resolve is notifying about).

Thank you for that. Just copy a folder and paste in another, solve the same!
