Anyone having problems with CUDA GPU on latest beta?

PostFri Aug 16, 2019 8:41 am

After installing the latest beta (16.1) I've been having several issues I believe are related to the CUDA GPU driver.

Some shots which have color effects or overlays applied will randomly flash when playing back and also on export. And attempting to retime a clip completely crashes the program.

I've tried updating to the latest nvidia drivers. I'm using a GTC 1060 6GB on Windows 10.

Edit: I forgot to mention that changing to OpenCL seems to fix all the issues, but also seems significantly slower.

I also have a GTX 1060 6Gb card running with the 430.86 Studio driver with no problems.

Couple things.

1. Don't install any CUDA-specific drivers. That can cause issues on Windows. The normal Display Driver has everything you need for CUDA to work.

2. I do recommend installing GeForce Experience and using that to choose and keep updated to the Studio driver. (You can Search the 'Net for how.) (This also has the necessary CUDA driver.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thank you. I'm not installing a specific cuda driver, just the standard studio display driver from nvidia. Currently its 431.70 Studio.

Initially I thought that changing to OpenCL in resolve settings fixed the problem, but it seems to have come back using that too.

OK.

I'm using the same driver with an 8GB 1070 and haven't seen this issue in any Studio version of Resolve for Windows.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other ideas.

Is it possible that the shots with issues were shot matched in the project before updating to 16.1b?

Because there are issues with that. You can check the nodes in the affected clips, and see if any of the nodes are Shot Match nodes.
