Lock keyframes horizontal position with modifier key

PostWed Aug 24, 2022 7:19 pm

please allow keyframes timing to be adjusted but allow the horizontal level to be locked with cmd or cntrl, or alt to allow for easy retiming and placement but maintaining its value.

Thats already implemented with the Shift key modifier used to lock either horizontal or vertical keyframe movement.

so whats the trick because when i click shift i have to click shift after i start moving in a direction and then it locks in the direction your moving but at that point im already moved up or down.

Its defeinelty not reliable i would say and repeatable. Also the function works even worse when you toggle on the keyframe badge. it could be improved by adding another key stroke to allow a lock horizontal or lock vertial.

I don't think it sets in stone as to exactly when you must press Shift to constrain the movement, Eric, only that you do it before the movement begins (obviously) ... for me , I press and hold Shift, then click then drag, and it seems to work reliably and repeatably. Obviously there's an element of care/precision involved, and I don't mind that at all, but I guess having additional modifiers (eg additionally pressing ctrl or opt thereafter) to override a potential inadvertent movement in the wrong direction would be cool.

I can confirm that the horizontal lock by hitting SHIFT does not work as expected (DRS 18.5). One has to move the keyframe first before the horizontal locking kicks on. This mostly causes an unwanted vertical movement at the very beginning.
I've tried many times, paying attention to pressing SHIFT carefully but no luck with that.

if I have a keyframe selected, would love to be able to use the arrow keys with alt to nudge in all directions.

I definitely second that. Alternatively moving left/right with the Speed Editor jog wheel + modifier key.

I just want to bring that up again.

Currently I am using keyframes a lot and it is really tricky to adjust the position, only without changing the values.
Yes one can lock the movement in horizontal / vertical position using ALT but you must start the movement first before the locking kicks in. If the locking would work from the beginning, this would be a very good solution as well.

yes this still sucks, absolute nightmare. if this is supposed to replace after effects but simple issues like this exist.. it drives me nuts. how hard would this be to fix?!
