Can the video and audio in the Scroller be synchronized?

PostWed Feb 21, 2024 10:56 pm

On the Fairlight page, in the Timeline view options, you can toggle the Scroller. You can add one video and two audio tracks. It's used to synchronize video and sounds. It's at the bottom of the window.

I got it to work, but it was extremely awkward because the tracks aren't synced....except directly under the Play Head:

You can see and hear that it is correct but at the clip beginning and end, the sound and video look wildly out of sync because the tracks play at different speeds...or have different visual lengths.

Visually they are not intended to be as a zoomed in view will look longer.
The Scrollers are a zoomed in view showing the video frames and the selected audio track to give a more detailed view. The fixed playhead in the scrollers corresponds exactly to the playhead in the timeline. It is very similar to the zoomed in view in the Cut page and is useful for positioning the timeline playhead exactly. You can always adjust the timeline zoom setting to roughly match. This is how it is intended to function.

This has been a feature request for years: lock the Playhead and have the timeline move from right to left... don't make the PLAYHEAD move from right to left. I would like to see this option as well.

Interesting....I did lot of searches in this forum so I wouldn't duplicate a request. Nothing turned up.

If you select Fixed Playhead in the Timeline View Options the Timeline and the Scrollers will scroll together past the fixed playhead.

As Marc says, a fixed playhead option in the Edit page has been asked for for a long time but is only available in the Cut and Fairlight pages.

Yeah, I've been so used to this in Pro Tools for 30 years, I'd like to see it on the Edit page in Resolve. I think we can agree, you can either have the Playhead move and everything else stay fixed, or you can have everything else move and the Playhead stay fixed. I'd be happier with the latter.
