Alt+Drag and Position Lock

PostFri Apr 26, 2024 2:29 am

I sometimes duplicate a clip up during a conform so I've got a mini "restore" point in the timeline if I need to check something. It would be nice for the Alt+Drag functionality to work when going from a Position Locked track to a non-Position Locked track, for example, the compound clip on V1 to V2 in the attached screenshot.

Even if it's an option in User>Editing settings, I'd find this incredibly helpful.

I rather like the idea that you can't do anything to clips on a Locked track.

I vote no. Unlock it first if you need to.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

It's not locked in the traditional sense, Jim. It's position locked, so everything on a given track is locked temporally, but can still be modified in the inspector or slipped. I believe it's designed to facilitate online rather than offline editing.

In the 19 beta, at least, Copy/Paste from a position locked track works, accounting for track selection. It would be nice to have the Alt+drag functionality work as well.
