audio transcription, speaker selection

PostTue Jul 23, 2024 7:25 pm

so one can "remove silent portions". awesome
however why is there no way to mark all instances of a certain speaker (to remove, or to copy and paste into another timeline, etc)?

use case: i have hundreds of speakers (documentary). i want to keep only the narrators voice.

I support this! I often coach clients through an interview, and the microphone picks up my voice. I don't need any of the footage identifying myself as a speaker, so it would be great to be able to remove it all effortlessly through Text-Based editing.

+1
For the remove option and speaker

If they add this, they should had an option for "padding" too. Or better algorithm so we don't end up with Butched edits.

Because the silence removal option doesn't work well at all. It cuts too much of some words.
(for that I use auto-editor myself, it's a python script that can create an fcpxml file, it's pretty quick, and we can tweak the db level of the silence we want to cut out, or "padding" between the cuts)

Yeah this one shared by Andy Mees.
I forgot to respond to the question.

What this python script does is pretty much what I would like to see integrated in Resolve, when dealing with de removal of silence. It's a pretty simple tool, but very powerful.

There is even a way to only get the silent parts, which I used in the paste to extract people's reactions.
