Multi-column sort in Media Pool list view

PostThu Mar 20, 2025 5:53 am

v19.1.3

It would be really nice - and pretty easy I think - to Shift+click on a secondary and tertiary column for additional sorting of items whose primary sort column values are the same. This would of course only work on columns that are already sortable so the infrastructure is already there.

Avid and FCP7 do this and in certain circumstances - like sorting by scene and then date - it's very useful.

IIRC old FCP did this and it worked like a charm.

I completely agree!
This is something I don't understand, by the way. NLE software such as DVR is brimming with hyper-technological AI gadgets, but simple functions such as sorting by the Shot column and then by the Take column appear to be impossible.

Very true. The appeal for AI gadgets is to lure the YouTuber audience and non-professionals (consumers) content creators. That’s the marketing influence that’s shifting NLE developers for market share and new markets, as well to appeal to shareholders or investors. I have not heard of large post house editors and colorist clamoring for more AI… just more controls that can provide convenience and efficiency and with their ability to control it… not some AI LLM to do it for them. I may be wrong on the latter part and if so, I want to hear those professionals say it. Well, unless people are just getting darn lazy to do the real work and leave it to the AI.

Also, +1 for me on this request.
