Edit Index filtering Fusion Comps

PostMon Dec 04, 2023 5:40 am

Super simple request:

Add a filter to the Edit Index to only show clips that have Fusion applied to them.

You can do the same thing with Transforms, Speed Effects, VFX Connect Clips and many more. Why not with Fusion?

While you're at it, add this filter to the color page aswell.

We can look at graded / ungraded clips, last modified, flagged, grouped ... but no Fusion?

Would definitely appreciate better filtering in the Edit Index. Let's have custom filters like we do on the Color page so we can filter for specific metadata / clip properties we need!

Sven, this may not be the answer you're looking for, but there is the ability to filter for Fusion compositions on the Color page. I believe it's below "Graded Clips".

If you want to filter for Fusion generators only (so not including video clips with a Fusion composition applied to it), I've found the only way to filter for those is to use a custom filter for Fusion Compositions combined with filtering for anything with a File Path that is blank. So your custom filter would look like this:

Color Timeline Properties - Fusion Composition - is true
MediaPool Properties - File Path - is - [blank]

Because generators don't reference media pool items, they don't return the Clip Type or any other metadata that you can filter for, unfortunately. But the File Path does return an empty string, which I don't think would be the case for any other media item. So we can assume that if a timeline item has a Fusion composition on it and it doesn't have a File Path, then it's most likely a Fusion Composition generator.

Thanks for the reply. A workaround I might have to consider is:

Open Color Page
Filter Clips with Fusion Compositions
Select all clips
Add a flag or change the clip color
Open Edit Page
Sort the Edit Index by that flag of clip color

Still annoying and it could be easily implemented by BMD

I would also be very grateful if 'Show Clips with Fusion Composition' could please be added to Edit Index filtering!

Another very useful filter on the Colour page that is also missing from the Edit Index is 'Different Frame Rate'.

I've love for both 'Different Frame Rate' and 'Clips with Fusion Composition' to please be added to Edit Index filtering options.
