Option to copy Transform effects when flattening Multicam

PostWed Feb 12, 2025 2:12 pm

Following up on this post viewtopic.php?f=21&t=216272

Currently when you flatten a multicam clip, you have the option to "Copying Multicam Grades" or "Retaining Grades from Angles", however Transform adjustments are discarded without warning. Ideally there would be an option to copy Transforms to the flattened multicam, or discard.

I think multicam likely needs to be rewritten so it is not treated as a compound clip. I like that one now has some options as my work flow is now to set remote grades for the camera angles before I start the multicam and then just cut the multicam. Really fast using my Speed Editor. Do all final framing and grading on the flattened file converting remote grades to local for fine clip adjustment when I go through adding nodes when I do this so remote grade is on the first node. I shoot 4K and 6K with my cameras in a 1920x1080 final timeline and crop/pan zoom into these files that can only be done when flattened to get to the source resolution anyway.

yes would be nice to do this in one go.

Transform effects in the edit page only cover edit sizing, not input sizing. Both are available on color page, where if you perform input sizing when flattening it will be preserved like it was a grade.

Sure but that’s massively inconvenient to edit that way. Also the fact that there’s no warning the transforms are discarded is a problem.

I'm doing a project with 8 cameras, 4 days of filming and a lot of pain to copy Transform effects

As I mentioned before with multicam setup the way it is at the moment it is a cuts only approach with grading and framing done on the flattened file. I came from EDIUS were this was not necessary but have got used it the work flow for performance improvements on my PC's. Big leasons learned were to use multiple timelines. For instance duplicate timeline before converting to multicam and then again duplicate this multicam timeline before flattening. That way one can always go back to re-edit. Even change things , copy paste into the finished flattened timeline.
