Cut Page to remember Source Tape Position...

PostThu Jul 22, 2021 11:35 pm

... when leaving the Cut Page, putting focus on another Page (Edit, Fusion, Fairlight, etc.), making a quick adjustment, then returning to Cut Page.

I have hours of a short film all in one folder tagged with appropriate metadata so I can sort by Scene, Shot in Cut Page. Pressing Source Tape twice allows me to zoom in to just the scene I'm working on, which I find invaluable. I tend to make very quick adjustments for other specific things as needed in other pages but whenever I switch back to the Cut Page and click Source Tape again, it lost my position (even In and Out points) and I have to find it again. Doesn't happen when I stay in Cut Page and switch from Timeline to Source Tape; only when I leave to another page, however brief—for example, if I have to adjust a synced audio clip in the Media Page using the Waveform Panel.

Just a suggestion! Keep up the "Black Magic!"

But everything should work this way. If I leave the color page and come back to it, who knows where I'll end up. Even the font. It should always default to the last font you were using. The reason all this is happening is because engineers are the people who have to do this - not editors. I rarely use the cut page, but 5 out of five times when I open Resolve it opens on the cut page. It should always come back to where we've left off.

In my case, I use the cut page often. IF I quit resolve, when I'm back I'm not able to set view to source tape were the timeline ends... wouldn't be great to have something like "Match Source Tape Frame"...

Wouldn't be great to have some "Match Frame to Source Tape"? It's a pain to figure out where in the source tape I was cutting...

It is a pain, I hate it.
There is a workaround. You can right click on the last clip on timeline. Click -Find in multi source, then turn the multi source off by clicking on four rectangles icon on the left side of preview window.
A few versions before you needed click only on find in media pool. But it does not work anymore for some reason.
