Quality Of Life features

PostMon Jun 09, 2025 4:08 pm

Hi,

Version after version I see Resolve adding more and more "incredible" features that most of the time I don't need (but I am not a pro editor), however there are basic Quality Of Life features I would really like to see taken care of by the team.

For example, the impossibility to layout my views the way I want results in a far less than good UI experience on my 32:9 screen. Also in my last project I needed to apply various parameter values on multiple clips at once and even though there is a way to do it for some parameters (copy/paste with param group selection), it did not select the parameters I needed (only groups with no granularity). Then I had to make the changes manually clip by clip, this was horrible. I also remember trying to do some effect in Fusion, but the way to insert the result into other projects than the one I was working on was far from intuitive.

I think these are part of the basic/core features of the tool, personally I don't need AI or whatever super advanced feature I will not use, I'd need instead a refocus on improving the core experience of the tool. Thank you!

Our workaround for that is to not use an UltraWide screen for GUI. Ultrawide support is better in Resolve 20, so there is that.

We find the GUI optimum size for us is 2550x1440 on a 27" display. If you go with the dual-display option on 2 monitors, you can split the GUI and use half of it on each side. You can resize some of the palettes inside to a degree, but we still don't have complete customizability.

With my 32:9 screenI would like to display (in the Edit view for example) the monitoring video on one side of the screen and the timeline on the other side, potentially using a multiline timeline. The monitoring video would not necessarily take the full screen height but could (sizing would be available).

Btw what has been improved in Resolve 20 about Ultrawide support?
