Keep playhead stationary when Ripple trimming

PostSun Apr 27, 2025 3:53 pm

Currently it seems that if the playhead is over a clip which is having its in-point ripple trimmed then the playhead moves but it bears no relation to the actual picture in the viewer. It would make more sense to have the playhead remain in place while the clip is trimmed, so showing the picture under the playhead at all times.

Bumping this thread again. I'm trying to do the same with a subtitle track and it makes no sense.

Testing this, with video clips again too - I think the play-head should remain in place while I ripple trim clips underneath it and it should display the video frame underneath the play-head at all times. Currently the play head moves to follow the clip and even though it's following the clip but the frame displayed changes, until I let go of the mouse. I find this really confusing, wouldn't you want it to stay still!?

I can't duplicate that. The playhead is showing the correct frame for me.

I think it may actually be showing the frame I want to see but the playhead is moving away from it and it's locked to the clip. Then when I let go of the mouse the frame displayed jumps to where the payhead now is and away from the frame I was trying to sync.

Example, I want the ball to hit the back of the net on a beat in the music. I ripple trim the end of the previous clip while parked over the beat in the music. The play head should stay on the beat and show me the frame that is going to be on that beat of the music but it doesn't.
