Fusion Parameters & Keyframes on the Edit Page

PostSun Jun 22, 2025 9:11 pm

I’ve posted this in pieces on other threads, but I want to make a single request putting this all together regarding Fusion parameter and keyframe interaction with the Edit page.

1) Share editors between Edit and Fusion page: There should be a single keyframe editor and a single spline editor that both the Edit page and the Fusion page share. In the same way that all of the pages share a single timeline, the Edit and Fusion pages should share the same keyframe/spline editors. This would be more consistent for users and easier on developers who would not have to update/maintain multiple sets of code that do exactly the same task.

2) Publish parameters from Fusion to Edit page: Add a right-click -> “Publish to Edit Page” option in Fusion for individual parameters, nodes and groups of nodes. This would be a quick and easy way to place desired Fusion parameters onto the Edit page for adjusting and keyframing without the convoluted macro export/import process. These could also be added to a new “Published” (for lack of a better name) panel inside of Fusion to see which controls have being published on the Edit page and to have for editing/arranging the parameters.

3) Drag and drop parameter editor: Have a convenient drag and drop editor to rearrange parameters inside of the Published panel in the Fusion and Edit pages to organize the parameters.

Blackmagic purchased Fusion back in 2014 but the Fusion and Edit page still don’t communicate well together. As of the official v20 release you still can’t even set basic keyframe ease in/out for Fusion effects on the Edit page via the Inspector. The lack of keyframing on the Edit page makes Resolve terrible for VFX/motion graphics. I use Fusion effects almost exclusively and trying to adjust or time effects on the Edit page has been a major source of headaches for me in Resolve. Having Fusion and the Edit pages work together and fixing/improving the new keyframe/spline editors would be amazing for VFX/motion graphics in Resolve. Resolve has so much potential to blow Adobe out of the water in this area and I hope this happens. Thanks.

Related issue: V20 now has a new Keyframe Editor panel. Does anyone else find its speed-ramping abilities to be less intuitive than the now-extinct Retime Curve window that pops down below active clip on the timeline?

I always say they should go learn Houdini if developers want to understand a truly top tier node based program. Everything you mention is exactly how Houdini works.

Being able to publish settings to higher levels from nested objects is fantastic. The drag and drop interface creator used to edit parameters is so freaking good. It looks intimidating at first but they really though out how people would use the features.

It beats After Effects with it's controls creation, which is saying something.

I don't know if there would be anything in Houdini's interface that wouldn't increase the useability of Fusion.
