Looking for Control Surface

The wait is now 20+ seconds on my machine, instead of the 10 seconds it was before (in 16b7).

Can we get an option to just... shut this off?

It's not actually looking for a control surface. That just happens to be the prompt its on while other background tasks are being done. Assuming you don't actually have a control panel selected in Preferences.
