That's also the way it was in FCP7 and Pro Tools (the two other programs I've used the most after Resolve). Very standard as far as I know. What is tricky is keeping an eye on the track assignments.

More than one editor to whom I've shown Resolve has said, "hey, this is kind of like what Final Cut 8 could have been," which I think is a good description.
