Track matte request

PostSat Sep 07, 2019 3:05 pm

Hi BM
The track matte capabilities are convoluted, confusing, really unpleasant to use.

In the past, most NLE's I've used have ability to simply put a clip in the Edit timeline and assign it as the track matte for another of the timeline clips at that point in time. This is FAR simpler than all the hoops and gotcha's one has to jump through and deal with trying to do this basic thing with Colour or Fusion.

Please simplify this. Also please allow titles and Fusion clips to be used as track matte clips too. Please allow anything with alpha or luminocity differences.

Thanks!

In color, simply grab the clip from media page tab and slap it to the node tab.

I think that a lot of various features being thrown about in different areas of the program are very confusing. I get it that this is due to how resolve has evolved over the years, but some things probably need to be changed and moved around so that they make more sense. For instance, WHY should someone go to the Color page to create a track matte? If you are a new user, does that make any sense at all?

I tend to go to the Fusion page for my effects.

like you said, because it has evolved in the years...

it will take a bit of time to clean up and streamline it.

that would be exported footage and thereby a locked edit/shot. also, you have to apply this to every shot seperatly.

An added option in the color dropdown menu for example (where you can also find clip-grading and timelne-grading), would allow some more on-the-go creativity. It's not just about speed.
