Retime Curve Default

PostTue Nov 12, 2019 9:33 pm

currently the default for retime curve under retime controls is retime frame. I use the retime speed a lot more frequently than retime frame. Does anyone else feel it would be more helpful for workflows if the default was adjusted to retime speed?
Is there a way to adjust the retime curve default?

Oh hell yeah! Every time I select re time curve I get the default re time frame. Every time I think, “but I didn’t ask for retime frame”

Yes, I need this default. I'm surprised it's not there already.
But the issue is I don't want to upgrade to the latest BETA as I'll have up upgrade my OS.. which wont work for my many music software plugins for my DAW

Maybe the best option is to add this to the list of Stickies?

+1 for retime speed as default curve

also it would be nice if we could set all keyframes to "bezier" by default (or select multiple keyframes at once by dragging a box around them)

Seriously, who uses Retime Frame and fixed keyframes? Why hasn't this been fixed yet? For that matter, what does Retime Frame even do? Anybody even know?

Well, I saw someone mentioned a feature request for v17, but until then there is an AHK script that preselects Retime Speed by default:
https://github.com/kotylo/davinci-resolve-retime-speed

Just run it (if you are afraid of exe, compile with AutoHotkey yourself), select video track, use the Alt+S hotkey to open up the Retime Speed.

Wow - let's open this back up.... in the middle of a project where every clip needs a retime curve and having so many steps to open it is beyond annoying! Unfortunately that GitHub script won't work for me as I am not on Windows.

+1 for that

Best case would be a single shortcut operation which opens retime controls including retime curve in retime speed mode.

That would safe literally hours every single month for many users since speed ramping is one of the most importaion features of an NLE nowdays.

Come on Blackmagic, let's get this fixed. Retime frame is not really even a thing is it? Nobody anywhere uses it and it should not be default. People however do actually use the retime curve, a lot.

Seriously. I've been a fan of DR since I started my videography journey but there is a lot of room for improvement. Why is this still a thing after several versions and countless complaints? We should have the option. Why make 99.999999% of people have to waste valuable time changing it every single time we open the retime curve? I don't like Adobe PP but I've found myself using it more and more lately. Simple things like this and even bugs they still haven't fixed since 16. Come on. It's getting tiresome enough to make me post on the forums

It's two YEARS later and we are all still forced to absolutely unnecessary waste our precious time over and over again.

For the love of something bigger than god. It's just a change of what is pre selected... SO simple.

As said earlier: one single short cut operation to open up:

- "change clip speed"
- "retime curve"

And preselect "retime speed" and "bezier" as standard as well as make the standard view zoom not 300% but maybe 800 or at least 600.

That zoom feature is also super bad from a ease of use perspective. It was so hard to figure that one out while it is so crucial. It should be much more visible (it's basically invisible at the moment) and easy to access so it is faster to use and new users can find it too.

PLEASE!

Why would you not listen to everyone? If you don't do it, please at least explain why we all have to suffer so much and waste so much time. I would even pay 100€ right away if you would fix this.

It's been 3 years.

I know they are priorities, but this one is literally just a "switch" in the code that says which setting is showing up by default.

For me, the smallest bugs/weird default settings are more frustrating than the big problems, because I understand that big things need to be investigated careful to not break everything else.

I found this thread because this is exactly what I was looking up: How to set the bezier keyframes and retime speed as the default.

I really don't get why it is different now, it doesn't make any sense for most editors. Increasing the standard zoom to something higher wouldn't necessarily be good, but it would be nice to be able to customize the default settings.

It is indeed. But they've not addressed any of the other many shortcomings with the regime speed tool. You still can't select more then one of them or set ease in/out as the default or, as far as I can tell, done anything else at all there.

But we do have basic auto captioning and that is welcome.

Resolve gets still widely used in professional workflows only as a finishing software, and so, for Conforming Artists, the Retime Frame is mandatory and the only thing that matters.

I DON'T think they should change the default behavior, just add an option in the General Settings of the project that everytime a retime curve is open, it goes for Retime Curve. Exactly like contrast S-Curve in Color Page, that can be set to linear in the same General Settings.
