Next key frame shortcut

PostSat Feb 08, 2020 6:30 pm

Because the “rotoscoping” in resolve is effectively done in the tracker window, there is not practical shortcut (AFAIK) to go previous/next key frames.

1) -[- -]- should also work on those key frames
2) shift + [ = should go in between that current key frame and the next one (split the distance) like nuke or any good rotoscoping tool.

Ciao Waler.

I couldn't agree more... I am fighting this very issue right now with a very complicated bezier curve manual track.... and it seems crazy that there is no short cut key to do this... it's costing me a lot of time.

Best wishes

There are buttons on the Advanced Panels for that. Don't they have soft keys to do the same thing on the Mini?

If the ⌘] shortcut goes to the next keyframe for color, and ⌘[ goes to the first keyframe for color, then I bet ⌘⌥] (command-option-] ) and ⌘⌥[ (command-option[ ) would be reasonable shortcuts for tracking keyframes. Hey, I was glad that now we have buttons to get to the Window Tracking vs. FX Tracking vs. Stabilization displays on the panels.

They only way to jump to Keyframe’s in the tracker window (afaik, on the mini panel) is the 2nd/middle page of the tool, when the tracker is active.

Or the advance panel, and it is fine if you’re coloring, but not if you are rotoscoping with a mouse/pen and keyboard.

i've had this mapped to my artist color's softkeys for years now (the three sk's above the gamma ring are last/add/next kf) works fine in the tracker panel

i'd have to go look at what i have mapped there, it's really been years and years since i've use a kb shortcut or ui pulldown for this function, don't even remember what / where to find it anymore ;-)

that is fine if you have only one room you work on, we have dozens of rooms in different building and i have to jump around..... i kind of need that to be in the software.....

+1 Keyframing has a long way to go in Resolve and should be top priority for the Edit & Color page.
Proper Bezier, Linear functions with friendly interface should also be a priority IMO.

They added a Tracker keyframe button to Advanced Panels 2, but it took me a few weeks to find it:

"Prev Trk K/frm" and "Next Trk K/frm" are the buttons. This is in the left-most panel (T-Bar), middle section. The "other" keyframe buttons on the transport controls is for color keyframes.

If you're on the Mini Panel, I dunno... I don't recall seeing a button for this function there.

The main issue is… it not useful. If you’re at the point where you have to go to key frames and trim / adjust the shape, 99% of the times you already are with the mouse in your hand,.. therefore the shortcut should be on the keyboard, not the panel. (My personal opinion of course, but is a panel press force you to do the next action with the mouse, it’s a not good use of the surface…)

I added the prev/next KF action to my Streamdeck (as well as add/delete KF). The button launches an autohotkey script (on Windows) or triggers a macro in Keyboard Maestro (on MacOS), which clicks in the right place on the Resolve UI.

Even if you don't use a Stream Deck, you could launch a macro/script with a shortcut to do the same. At least until BMD allows you to assign a shortcut within Resolve itself.

We have about one hundred of systems, mostly linux, mostly remote connected, that is not going to work.

I'd argue the opposite: we paid a lot of money for the Advanced Panels, so all of it should be there. But that would require a working mouse trackball or (even better) a drawing tablet integrated into the panel.

When I do stuff like rotoing, I usually have my left hand on the button and my right hand on the window sizing control or the mouse, whichever one I need. Worst case, I could just hit -> on the keyboard multiple times.

At the moment, option+] gets you to the next Color keyframe:

Image

I would think they could add a command like shift-option-] to get you to the next Tracking keyframe. And the same for ⇧⌥ [ for previous Tracking keyframe. I don't think that's used at the moment.

you're talking bout the wrong keyframe: I want to go to to the next "shape tracker keyframe" (in the color page), not "color keyframe".

Keyframing in general is far from great, and particularly when it comes to roto. I'd live Blackmagic to have a look at how Mistika has its Shapes (beziers, windows) keyframes and animation curves, as they are a step above (although bezier use in Resolve is better).

In any case, +1 on adding a shortcut; that'd be a tiny bit better instead of clicking the prev/next arrows constantly.

If you have a dedicated window layout you can use Autohotkey and a stream deck to get/animate/click on those buttons/arrows. Far from ideal but waiting for that upgrade/improvement might take forever. #interfacehack
