Fairlight:: Layers: Better comping method!

PostSat Sep 18, 2021 7:43 pm

Please create a better comping method for layered tracks. Something like Studio One would be perfect.

Right now, the comping is a pain in the a**. You have to manually drag the layer to the top you want to audition!!! And comping is really bad!!

There must be a way to audition the "active layer" without having to move it anywhere.

And for comping a simple select a layer portion, brings it to the "master layer".

All this behavior is really taken from Studio One. They nailed comping to perfection.

The Fairlight Audio Editor panel provides all these functions via its dedicated picture keys, including editing across the top layer only or across all layers, auditioning any layer regardless of position, cycling through layers and popping (promoting) layers to the top.

This is one of the many reasons that Fairlight always been (and still is) regarded as one of the fastest audio editors long before other audio software provided anything remotely similar.

:shock: :shock: :shock:

I must be watching the wrong tutorials then!!

All the ADR tutorials I watched mention you having to drag a layer to the top to audition it. And then manually copying and pasting pieces from layers to comp. No "swipe auto-comp".

What is these "dedicated picture keys"?

Edit: Oh. It is a 5,000$ hardware. Well I don't have that kind of money. Is there a way to accomplish the same thing with a regular keyboard and mouse?
