It would be great to have as a preference "Do not auto update thumbnails."
My main problem with the auto-updating of thumbnails is that I frequently have reason to open a project for which I no longer have the original media drive (because it's been sent back to the client). When I do this, all of the thumbnails update to the Media Offline graphic, making them utterly useless for finding a particular shot that I might want to grab a grade from. Additionally, constant updating of thumbnails makes it so that when I go to the lightbox view, I have to wait for thumbnails to update/draw. I'd much rather be able to update just when I need to, with the Update all Thumnails command.
As a general policy, I'd love to *never* see the Offline Media graphic, either in thumbnails or in the cache. Perhaps Resolve could keep the last thumbnail/cache, but overlay an offline indicator of some kind?
