support Cue markers in WAV file

PostMon Mar 09, 2020 6:39 pm

Copying (and supporting) Hector Corcin's request here: "Feature Request:
Importing a WAV audio file that has Cue Markers in it, should import those markers as media markers."

This would be very handy for working on long projects that use indexed WAV files! E.g. I currently need to go through and find, by ear, 42 indices and manually mark them, which will be painful, and feels unnecessary because they are already indexed in the file. Thanks for considering!

(Apologies for bumping in the wrong section.)

This would be a useful addition.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I really miss the feature. DaVinci Resolve should be able to read the embedded markers.
I use Amadeus Pro and Ocenaudio to prepare the sound for Resolve. These apps do handle markers and I'd appreciate if Resolve 17 could import them. Is there any workaround for with .cue files?

I still primarily edit my audio in Audition and rely on markers for a number of workflow purposes. That these don't come over on import is a pain.

Sure, thanks -- here's a WAV file with markers as rendered from Reaper: https://caseyconnor.org/pub/audio/markerdemo.wav

That's just a WAV file that I added some random markers to and rendered out with them embedded.

+1 for this feature.

Here are two files, one each from a Tascam DR100 MkIII and a Zoom F8n. Three marks in each file.

I absolutely love DR 17. Many improvements over the years. I recently had a production when we were using three Tascam DR 60D Mark II audio recorders. Each recorder was being monitored independently by each of our crew. We were using the Data Enter/Mark button to identify when each of three individuals were beginning to speak.

In the past, bringing in these audio clips into Sony Vegas would automatically bring in this marker data.

It would be extremely useful to our company to have this functionality.

Can I add my voice as well.

It's slightly odd that it doesn't have it, and things can be very time consuming without - the OP had 42 index markers - I've just spent time marking 87!

But it was at least helped by being able to load the WAV into Adobe Audition, manually add markers where the embedded markers were shown, the exporting a the markers as a spreadsheet, using timecode maths in the spreadsheet to update the positions to match the DR timeline, then adding each one manually

I know that there is script called "Memphis Markers" that can import CSV markers, but I haven't been able to get it to work.

So PLEASE support reading the cue markers from a WAV file.

Or an alternative like a plugin or something?

Thanks! :D

For now, im working with a secondary audio file in which I press a key and make a loud sound, so, in DaVinci Resolve, I know where I need to make a cut or something like that. It's not the ideal of course, so I really like to see Cue Markers in Wave file in the new version.

Wait, so this isn't an industry standard function? Well this F's things up a bit.
