More for the timeline markers and youtube chapters

PostFri Oct 22, 2021 12:28 pm

I was added recently, I would like to expend the capability because it's embedded in the file (it shows in my media player), it's great, but I don't use the youtube preset, so I still don't have something I can just copy-paste as chapters on youtube.

It would be great that when the "chapters from markers" is selected in "Custom", it exports a simple text file alongside the video file, with the chapters in it. It could go just below the "Export Subtitles", like "export chapters"

It could be added to the export menu.... in the screenshot below - Export to Youtube Chapters

See how you like the plugin I made for it. https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=149311

Great job.
I tested it just now on a "test" project. It works great!
I tried on other finished projects with markers, the popup didn't want to open for some reason.

That's strange. Try viewing the Console (Workspace > Console) to see if it output any errors. Anything different with those projects, like frame.io markers?

I have a : ...t\Fusion\Scripts\Deliver\YouTube Video Chapters Plus.lua:0: attempt to index a nil value

If I create a new timeline and add markers, it works, but not with any of my finished project.
Nope, no frame.io, the most basic timelines.

I deleted the markers on these, and just added 3 to see if it was something with the text in them, nothing.

Maybe it's a character in one of the markers that causes this? I just tired another old project, and it worked this time

I think I found why!
It doesn't work on my 59.94 fps timelines, but works on my 60 fps... created from "create new timeline" in the media pool

EDIT :
Yeah, just tried on an empty project, created a new timeline from the mediapool at 47.952 fps, added markers, tried the tool, didn't open the popup... then created a new timeline at 50 (and 24), did the same, and the popup showed up.

It looks like it prefers "round" fps number?

Thank you for investigating. I'm not seeing that issue here with fractional frame rates but I suppose it can be related to regional settings in the OS, where decimal separators can be different. Are you on Windows?

Yes, Windows (swiss-german for the regional settings of the OS). And
The decimal separator is a comma, but I have Resolve in English.

Switching to your region made no difference, it still runs fine here. Would you be able to upload a small exported timeline that isn't working? File > Export > Timeline. Thanks.

Edit: Switching region/keyboard back and forth a few times I'm now able to trigger it.

Thanks, that has to be a bug in Resolve. It's reporting the frame rate as 23. I can recreate that issue if I set my region to United States and create the timeline, save, then reset the region to my own (Sweden) and restart Resolve.

I have updated the tool with a workaround for this issue.
