Yes it does. that is exactly what the current does; It takes MORE time because you have to check what state you are currently in. Rather than knowing a key ALLWAYS will act a certain way. Regardless of the timing action. There are times the timing isn't right and you have to pause or start over. And if you don't check before dragging and you are looking at your action, you have to press it again. Thus taking two steps instead of one.
plus, if you want to trim AND snap you have to hit the keys while you are dragging in a perfectly timed manner. Stopping your action do do so. Rather than just pressing down the modifier key(s).
This is a better way for people who edit fast with keys rather than mouse in particular and power editing. Every NLE and Creative software I have used except Resolve uses modifiers keys to perform actions.
The edit page was born as a conform page for color. It is time it gets real NLE features.
