Flesh out Copy/Paste so it works “everywhere”

PostSat Jul 02, 2022 4:01 pm

Copy/Paste works in most places across Resolve. However there are some places where one would expect it to work but it does not. Grades is one of those places. Between projects in different databases is another.

Seems like it’d be a good “cleanup project” to extend the copy/paste buffer so it works between databases and implement it wherever people discover it’s not working.

You could argue it kind of works in Grades. You can copy paste a single corrector node or OFX node. You can middle click another clip to fully import it's node tree on the current clip or you can drag grades from the stills library or inspect it to take individual nodes from it.

But my biggest annoyance is the absence of copying multiple selected nodes and pasting in another clip. I don't understand why this doesn't exist. It's super easy to implement.

1. If selected nodes connect to each other uninterrupted: paste the whole selection including it's links.
2. If selected nodes are interrupted by nodes outside selection paste them all but only append the first node from the selection up to where it broke and let the user hook the remaining up where they need them.

Yep, copying and pasting grades (from a node) is fine but it's unintuitive that you cant copy and paste nodes themselves in the Color Page... it works perfectly fine doing so in the Fusion Page.
