Choose screen for different panels (Inspector, Effects,...)

PostThu Sep 08, 2022 11:53 am

Hi,

Would be nice if it was possible to choose on which screen a panel opens.

Example:
Dual screen setup, fairlight page. On one screen I have the sliders and control room, on the other screen is the timeline. Now if I open Inspector and Effects, the timeline gets very narrow. In my projects I usually don't have more than 6 audio tracks, so there is a lot of screen room left on the sliders side.

So it would be nice to be able to choose that for example "Effects" opens on the other screen.

Don't need floating windows, just a possibility to distribute those panels a bit more flexible.
Tech:
Win 10 pro, Ryzen 9 5900X, 128 GB, M.2 for media
RTX 3080 ti, Intensity Pro, DVR Studio + Fusion 18.x, Desktop Video 12.x

I really like this idea. Probably much easier to implement and I think it gets 90% of what people want.

I have my timeline on a curved, ultrawide gaming monitor in the Edit page, but when I click the Color tab it forces me to use that gaming monitor—with terrible colour—as my main colour correction monitor, and gives me no ability to view the image on my expensive, colour-accurate monitor unless I totally change my Dual Screen Workspace settings every time I swap between these pages.

PLEASE fix this, BlackMagic! I've seen so many people talking about this exact issue, including Sam Kolder in his YouTube video about swapping to Resolve, which gave me the final impetus to follow.

Warwick, you can select which monitor is the Primary one in the Workspace menu. Normally I have my Eizo as my primary display when editing, but change things around when using Video Clean Feed for grading so the cheapo and not very accurate BenQ carries the UI.
