Move Retime Curve Graph from Timeline to its Own Panel

PostFri Jun 02, 2023 4:22 am

or maybe just the option to move it if it doesn't suit everyone. But I feel like this is super beneficial for people who edit on laptops and don't want to blow up their timeline with several stacked clips and make the preview window small.

EDIT: some users recommended for it to have its own panel, probably a popup one so that it doesn't affect/resize everything else in your workspace.

In my head, the panel could be an adjustable one dependent on how long the clip is you're working on. And it's a mini-timeline with its own playhead. So you play, it plays, you pause, it pauses, and have shortcuts to add keyframes, move the keyframes, highlight them, make curves, etc.

or in its own panel or pop-out window, the Inspector isn't really wide enough

I think one needs at least a 27" 1440 display to have a good user experience with Resolve.

I favor keeping the graph where it is.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

+1. On a large monitor the inspector is waayyyy to far over on the right side for working comfortably. I struggle when "rubber necking" to enter metadata too, so a flexible floating window for these panels would be ideal.

I just think it's better than having it on the timeline but what you're suggesting might even be better. +1 to that.

Yes, great idea. The retime curve having its own window would be great. Personally, the retime curve graph kind of is - not good.

Whoever wrote this - YES YES YES! It's absurd. These wonderful Resolve engineers are just that, engineers, programers, not editors. Being able to move panels to where ever you want them.,.. how is this not a thing?!
