Better progress indicators for long processes

I just tried to relink media in a project containing 5300 clips in it, and Resolve 16.1 (final release) simply locked up the UI, and sat there for nearly 5 minutes with a spinning beachball before it finally relinked everything and restored control of the UI.

There really needs to be some sort of progress indicator for operations like this that may take a long time, so that it's obvious that Resolve is actually doing work, rather than being frozen. In this specific instance, a progress indicator showing the file or folder that is currently being searched for (or at least a counter that displays the number of files/folders that it has already searched) a would be helpful to give the user confidence that Resolve hasn't locked up or crashed.

Backing up a database could also use such an indicator.

Clicking on the Fusion tab also beachballs on macOS when you click it, with no feedback as to the progress of the loading process of the Fusion tab.

More examples:

"Update Lists” button in LUTs prefs (Project settings/Color Management/Lookup Tables) beachballs while updating.

Importing large amounts of media

Deleting Render caches

Auto Color

Conform from Media Storage

when I'm working on a fusion comp and Resolve constantly crashes it becomes a huge annoyance.

Trying to use Media Manager on a feature documentary project with nearly 10TB of footage, would be good to know what's happening as it's calculating and not just frozen!

Dealing with any kind of project with 5300 clips would be trying, even under the best of situations.

My advice would be to divide the project up among at least 2 or even 3 different projects, then corral all the material as best you can, manually delete the unneeded/unused clips, and THEN attempt the relink.

We have not hit 5000+ clips on a single project yet, but we have hit 3000 for sure. In one case (a documentary series), we split out each episode into its own project, and that worked a lot better -- maybe 700-800 shots per timeline, 10 timelines.
