Don't know if there will ever be a dedicated photo editor, but for now...

You can certainly do time lapses - Resolve is setup to handle this as video (indeed, it is more "natural" for Resolve to look at image sequences this way.)

You can also do mass exports of color graded photos using the deliver page. Just load your images on to a timeline, do your grading, then export as individual TIFF images using the original source name and resolution. (No need to "export" or "save" from the color page gallery.)

Note: I have seen YouTube videos claiming that you need to set the still to ONE frame (not true) or use the export "stills" method from the gallery, which is way to slow and cumbersome IMO. If you need to create JPEG's or fix the naming (Resolve will add zeros) you can easily batch process with traditional tools like Bridge, PhotoShop, Affinity, etc.

I'm not sure that BMD will want to deal with still camera RAW formats as well as the video RAW formats.

I think I would vote to keep photo editing in a dedicated program like Photoshop/Affinity/GIMP.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

A great idea. It does not have to be a demanding photo editing program. Often only basic graphics are needed, such as a pointer, or place names on a map, which appear one after the other (Layer). The program can then be extended later step by step.

I can’t wait until someone requests an integrated e-mail client into the Resolve interface. It’s only a matter of time, if Zawinski’s Law holds true.

Great idea, an integrated email client in Resolve. Then you can e.g. send stills directly. Thanks again for this great idea ;-)

The purpose of this section of the forums is for feature requests and what customers feel would help them and potentially others. The TL;DR version of what we've said in the past in regards to some of the responses is below:

Contribute to others with helpful insight and not belittling other people for their thoughts/suggestions. If it continues, the thread will be locked and further actions against those that can not follow those rules will be taken.

You can already edit photos with DVR:

- Import a photo into the timeline
- Edit the photo in Color Page and/or in Fussion
- When you are happy with your result, "View>Stills>Grab Still" ,
- Color Page>Gallery Panel, right click your still and click "Export".

Easy.

you have to admit, not everything is possible, e.g. is possible in photoshop.

For me its not about the possibilities in photoshop, but the interface or how to find what you need. I rather drink some chloric acid.
After learning Resolve for color grading years ago i stopped working in photoshop as every time i get frustrated how things so simple in Resolve are so convoluted in Photoshop. Resolve feels like you paint with ligh, photoshop feels like working in engineering.
Lightroom feels already more natural for most primary grading work and is enough for me for most of the work.
Of course if you are in a different industry Photoshop has crazy advances features you surely need, but i try to stay away as much as i can unless i absolutely need it.

For a film, you certainly don't need all the functions of pure image processing software. However, I sometimes combine 3D objects with film. To create textures for the 3D objects, I don't really get to the end with Resolve or another NLE. So everyone works a little differently.

Yeah in the end it helps if you are proficient with a few different tools to get the job done.
There will never be a one size fits all.

Having a MiniPanel and edit a bunch of still photos is already feasible in DVR16, droping them into the Gallery Panel in Color Page.

However, for RAW photo files will be like using a wrench to drive, as there are specialized apps to handle DSLR raw pics.
That the nail remains nailed is what matters.
