Dynamic Subtitle background

PostWed Nov 27, 2019 3:04 pm

I'd like the subtitle background to be dynamic and adjust to the size and length of the text. Readjusting for each entry is tedious and you have to uncheck "use track style" which kind of breaks it.

Second that. A lot of people have been requesting this during a long period and the lack of this feature makes the otherwise pretty neat subs feature borderline useless.

This would be a very useful time saver.

+1.

There is simply no point in offering a background option without enabling it to be dynamic (optionally, though most people will surely use it this way).

I want to know what is wrong with the programmers? Why cannot they sort this subtitling issue out?

What I require is as follows:

Black dynamic (adaptive) background subtitles
I should be able to simply set this up and start making subtitles to BBC standards

To be honest with you, I am thinking of leaving Davinci Resolve and finding a programme that can do this, as it is pretty pathetic really isn't it? Look at the BBC subtitle standards, and you will see what I mean! Who is the program for? Amateurs or professionals? They need to advertise appropriately that this program is not professional, because it does not have a workable subtitle system.

Instead of sorting out updates that DON'T MATTER they need to focus on things that DO MATTER. Put me in charge for 10 days and I'd kick some ass.

Subtitles are badly in need of an overhaul.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a pro user, this feature is absolutely necessary and it was first raised years ago. Is anyone from Blackmagic listening to us?

I would like this feature too! Sometimes I even have to use Premiere Pro to subtitle stuff because I need this feature and that's not exactly ideal.

As Adobe just announced their new captions workflow, I was really hoping that Resolve 17 would follow the path. But sadly not... Right now, subtitling is not usable for me in Resolve!

Oh my. Plus 1. Can't believe I need to go to Premiere to get these subs done now. Really?

+ 1000!

I can't believe this isn't possible.

Businesses need video. Video needs subtitles. Background colors vary. This is actually a dealbreaker for me. I was confident this was included in the paid version.
