Edit page > Track Height(s) assignable keyboard shrtcuts

Hello all,

I am new to this forum, so forgive my style, formatting, and possible redundancy.

My request:
Please bring independent Video and Audio track height controls, as mappable keys to the Edit pageI believe that a very important but subtle update to the edit timeline would be a huge time saver.
I AM NOT TAKING ABOUT USING THE BLACKMAGIC KEYBOARD, JUST A STANDARD KEYBOARD MAC OR PC

Currently in Resolve:
The timeline view options are tucked away in the menu above the timeline, that also holds the waveform display buttons. Every time I need to adjust the track heights I need to stop editing and go to the menu and use the sliders. If you are doing this constantly it really impedes on your progress.

On the Fairlight Page,
you can right click in the track header and choose > lock track height which could also be a universal keyboard option between the pages (that would be a bonus)

Ways to integrate :
Option A >
Cmd + and - cycles through Video track heights and Opt + and - cycles through Audio track heights
Shift + Max height all tracks and Shift - Minimize height all tracks
(or make a toggle keyboard shortcut to min/max height)

Option B > This could also be custom presets for track height control
presets made and saved 1- 4 with keyboard shortcuts

THESE ARE DEFINED BY THE USERS not fixed setting defined by Resolve

Preset 1: Dialog editing = small video tracks with tall audio tracks 1 +2 only

Preset 2: Music editing = small video tracks with tall audio tracks 7+8 only

Preset 3: Effects setting = tall video tracks with audio small tracks

Preset 4: Title and Subs = tall subtitle tracks and 1 video track (V6) with small audio tracks

Preset 5: Conform and Finishing = All tracks small.

My thoughts:
If you can zoom in, out, fit to window easy why can you not grow the tracks up and down these settings are work together.
Here is an article I wrote about this topic

HIDE THE TOOLBAR PLEASE:

Toolbars are an useful guide for begginers to intermediate users.
Instead, specialized editors need: 1.) Shortcuts, 2.) Real State.
Users using the Editor Keyboard also don't need to use the toolbar. The same for keyboard based editors.

Except the Timeline View Options, the whole Toolbar is already assigned to shortcuts, so give us an option to hide the toolbar so we gain that precious real state for a bigger timeline and bigger viewer where we gain inmersion in the movie while working on single screens systems, like a Laptops.

Three solutions to gain access to the tools in the toolbar without viewing the toolbar:

1. Vertical toolbar on the Timeline area (like Premiere) instead of the current hugue horizontal toolbar
2. A Dropdown "Tools Box" icon that can be invoked from the panels bar above (in the same way we invoke the mixer).
3. An Additional Keyboard shortcut to show/hide the toolbar.

Consider that 9to5 editors use keyboard shortcuts instead of going clicking with the mouse on large toolbars.

I agree with everything you just said. would love to be able to hide the toolbar as you can the different pages.

+1. I would love to see this option. For example in Reaper.app Page Up / Page Down keys changes global tracks height quick and easy.

I have a much simpler aproach. The Adobe approach. While mouse over the track now ALT+Mouse Scroll matter if zooms in/out. I suggest if

* Mouse Scrolling (up/down)
-
ALT + MS = zooms in/out (currently existing)
SHIFT+MS= single track height of which the mouse is currently hovered
CTRL+SHIFT+MS = all track height size adj.
CTRL+SHIFT+ ALT = moving forward/backward the timeline
-

Currently the last one was functional to me at some point only with scrolling, but what happened, did I changed something or what, but now it moves me in the height of the track.

This BTW is one of the most used funcions as you know ;-) It would be really nice to have it as assignable keys :-)

Thank you for your time reading this.

This would be great, I really want to just quickly close tracks after I've made a mess opening everything up on a section :)

Would love to see a way to keyboard control track heights for video and audio independently. This is standard in Vegas for 15 years.

I can't believe this. Is there really no track height adjustment without using the slider control?

Separate track height is adjustable by mouse drag in Resolve 17. Also Shift + Mouse Scroll quickly changes the height of all tracks now.

The original FR still stands, so +1

The Avid approach to track resizing works best imo. The keyboard shortcuts affect only tracks that are highlighted *and* the tracks adjust to be centred in the timeline pane *and* you can save any number of presets (and assign them to shortcuts I think)

+1, and I also think that the Avid approach proved to be the best compromise between flexibility/simplicity.

Kind regards!

This and so many other threads can be summed up with "Make a keyboard shortcut for everything"

+1,
I can't see any reason for not having the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts for everything – the avid approach is also great there in terms of easiness and clarity (drag+drop buttons or command onto the keyboard layout on screen in the settings)

We've been considering Davinci at my company but the lack of customisable shortcuts has left us completely bamboozled. Why wouldn't you allow someone to assign a key to Detailed Zoom or Track Height and have the ability to save custom timeline views. Why does the Audio Waveform Height shortcut only work in Fairlight?

Please please follow Avid in this regard and you will find yourselves industry leaders...

Trying to make the switch over to Resolve from Premiere, and am truly astonished that v18 is here and there is still no way to create custom shortcuts for track height in Resolve. I adjust track height so often during my edit and while using the SHIFT + Scroll wheel is ok, having a shortcuts would be so much better. Really this is such a basic thing, please Balckmagic add this to your Keyboard Customization window.

+1 for this.

Quickly hitting a keyboard key works so much quicker and intuitive than using a scroll wheel if you ask me. Especially when working with a Wacom like I do, this feels really buggy.

There are no PRESETS. They added the useless zooming in and out that has been available with mouse scroll already. The last NLE where you create a new timeline and all the tracks are on a different height/size than your other timeline you just had open. And only way to match them is by manually resizing and aligning the height of the Video-Audio line in between the tracks.

This should be the way! Sometimes one needs only some tracks to be tall and others to be small. Shift + Scolling is cumbersome and very slow. It would indeed be great if one could set various Track height layouts and recall them with a dedicated keyboard shortcut so jumping between audio and video editing is fast and efficient.

+1 again to bump this ... I use presets and individual track height zoom all the time in Avid (from the keyboard) and (using alt and mouse) in PP. Avid definitely best implementation for both.
